In the spring of 2018, the smell of fresh-cut grass and the sound of a mower brought me back to my roots. I’d grown up watching my grandfather, part owner of Woodman Brothers Nursery, tend to his lawn. Hands stained with soil, showing me how to trim a hedge just right or a rose bush to the perfect hight. Years later my Grandpa could no longer take care of his lawn on his own, so my brother Mark and I took over the job of mowing his yard. We took so much pride in his lawn that it would look like a freshly cut  baseball field when we were finished. Then one day my grandfather called and informed me that he won an award from the city for the best looking yard and to come over to claim my prize, which was a free haircut at the local barber shop. That stuck with me—lawn care wasn’t just a job; it was in my blood.

So in the Spring of 2018, my wife and my children started this new adventure! Grandpa knew: honest work, respect for the customer, and an eye for the little details—like edging a walkway so sharp it’d make you smile. So, I grabbed a  mower, a truck, and a name that meant something: Burke Family Lawn Care. It started small, just me and a few yards in town, but word spread fast. People liked that I’d show up on time, listen to what they wanted, and leave their place looking better than they expected.

We believe customer service should feel like it used to: personal, reliable, no shortcuts. Grandpa’s gone now, but every lawn I cut, I hear him in the back of my mind, nudging me to do it right. Burke Family Lawn Care isn’t just a business; it’s a promise—to him, to our customers, and to the way things ought to be.
